OFT Brings Out Concerns about Proposed Merger of T-Mobile and Orange
Thursday 25 February 2010 @ 9:01 am

The proposal of T-Mobile and Orange to merge and form a new entity called T-Orange has met with resistance from both the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and local consumer groups. The OFT is concerned that small players like 3 would stand no chance of competing against a giant like T-Orange.

The proposal which was sent in September 2009 to the European Commission in Brussels is at present waiting for approval by the body. Both Orange and T-Mobile are hoping for a favourable decision as it would then make the new entity, T-Orange, a dominant player in the mobile industry from its inception (click here for latest Orange Broadband deals).

The OFT, voicing its concerns over the impact the merger will have on the businesses of small players like 3, has called for UK’s regulatory authorities to look into the details of the merger proposal. In addition, many people fear that Brussels may not be aware of the implications and hazards that may arise by the merger, if it comes through, especially with regard to the huge market share the merged entity will automatically get, as also the massive spectrum allocation.

Consumer groups in the UK are against the merger fearing that the new entity, by virtue of being the most dominant player in the market, would arbitrarily raise prices and also stifle the competition.

In view of all the reservations shown against the merger it is unlikely that the proposal will be passed at an early date.

A Bit of Guidance Pertaining to Used Cisco 2811
Thursday 25 February 2010 @ 6:31 am

These days it is crucial for any business to have a website, computers have become an enormous expense for every business. This investment is due not merely to the costs of buying the equipment, but also due to the fact that these items require regular updating, regular maintenance, and repairs, which usually needs to be carried out by an IT professional. And everyone knows having any computers shut down whether for scheduled upkeep or repairs will make for a pretty painful significant drop in profit.

Second-hand hardware can reduce costs significantly and appeals especially to new businesses and professionals working solo. It’s not difficult to see why the trade in quality second hand servers and data storage is as healthy as it is. They can purchase these items at a small fraction of the cost and they’ll operate every bit as well as the most recently launched hardware.

If you choose an item of refurbished equipment, you can rely on it to perform precisely as you want it to. When you don’t need nor want the usual concerns associated with the latest technologies, sourcing a specific brand or model may seem like a herculean task. When using providers that have refurbished servers and second-hand data storage however, it is much simpler. More often than not you can ask for your favored manufacturer or model.

Many of the issues with new technology don’t become obvious until the hardware has already been introduced. This can trigger a lot of downtime for repairs and upgrading the system. Thus, more than a few businesses have had to bite the bullet and replace their new networking equipment entirely as a bad idea after such an unsuccessful deployment.

With second hand servers, second hand data storage, and second hand network equipment, you can select an item that is known to be reliable whether it’s a second-hand Cisco 7206 or some reconditioned IBM RS6000 servers. This equipment has already had any factory problems resolved. Quality shouldn’t concern you either as every unit is tested thoroughly before being resold.

The secret to getting the most from refurbished equipment is doing business with quality IT asset disposal services. Don’t settle for the first company you come across, double check that they have experience in the industry. Doing this makes sure the units you need are fit for use. A guarantee is essential, just in case.

The evidence shows that the advantages of investing in used computer hardware are more than simply financial. So be sure to look at second-hand networking equipment and, of course, the best IT financing options before you make a choice.
