Monday 5 October 2009 @ 9:33 am

The Internet has really been a great thing for us in today’s world. It has made our lives easier through easing the access of information for all kinds of people. All kinds of information one might need and all the questions that need to be answered are available in just a click of a button. In addition, the Internet has provided us with a whole new industry. Many businesses thrive nowadays because of the opportunities provided to them by the Internet. Naveen Jain is one man who has taken full advantage of the business opportunity dropped at his doorstep by the burgeoning Internet industry.

Naveen Jain, current CEO and founder of Intelius Inc., was born on September 6, 1959 in Uttar Pradesh, a state in the northern part of India. At the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee, Naveen Jain took up and obtained his bachelor’s degree in engineering. After that, he attended the Jamshedpur School of Business and Human Resources and obtained his master’s in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations there.

Through a business exchange program, Naveen Jain was able to go to the United States after he finished his studies. He also saw the big potential presented by the booming information technology industry and looked for opportunities to involve himself in it. His first job was at Burroughs Corporation in New Jersey. Shortly after, he transferred to work for the IT giant Microsoft. He stayed with Bill Gates’ company for seven years, heading significant projects like the OS/2, MS-DOS and the Microsoft Network.

Recognizing his entrepreneurial skills, he left Microsoft to set up two highly successful IT companies: InfoSpace in 1996 and Intelius Inc. in 2003. This move proved fortuitous for the India-born entrepreneur: both InfoSpace and Intelius reaped massive profits. Today, the latter has remained one of the top IT companies in the world and Naveen Jain has continued to lead the company with determination he has portrayed ever since he set foot and took his chance in the United States market.
