While most of the other markets are sluggish, the market for mobile broadband connections and services has been booming like never before. Mobile Today has revealed minimum weekly mobile broadband sales of 20,000, and it expects this trend to continue.
The Digital Britain report has placed a lot of emphasis on the development of the communications sector in the UK, and has positioned mobile broadband almost at the forefront of this expansion. Thanks to the focus on the mobile internet market, the sales have shot through the roof this year, with the sales in January 2009 more than double of 27,000, which was seen last October, as reported by Gfk, a market research company.
Sellers of mobile broadband have pulled out all the stops to cash in on this trend, and are running furiously competitive marketing campaigns. Prices are affordable, the freebies are almost too good to be true (try the wildly popular laptop bundles), and advertising is everywhere. Consequently, consumer awareness and the eagerness to be online while mobile, has helped the mobile broadband dongles in practically selling themselves.
Mobile broadband has practically exploded on to the market, with massive visibility being garnered due to the popularity of gadgets such as the iPhone. The service was first used by professionals who wished to be reachable while on the move, but is now being used by every other person, as being online is considered an essential part of the modern lifestyle. It also helps that the fixed-line broadband does not have a wide coverage at the moment.
