How to Take Care of a Horse

In order to keep a horse healthy and happy, it is important to bear in mind that caring for a horse is like playing babysitter. Horses need to stay in spacious, comfortable, and clean homes. Some horse owners prefer to bring their pets to a place that rents out stables or land where the horse can live. Regularly cleaning a horse’s stable of droppings and pasture is important. Regularly feed a horse with either grains and chaff or hay. It is also important to check its supply of drinking water from time-to-time to make sure that the container does not go dry or empty. Like human beings, a horse also needs proper exercise. It will help if a horse owner spends time with his pet every day. Riding the horse regularly and giving it a good brushing before and after the ride will help the horse think of his master as someone that it won’t shy away from. However, when taking the horse out for a ride, it is vital to give the animal plenty of water to drink and several breaks. Giving a horse treats like sugar cubes or apples will help a lot. A horse’s proper hygiene is also essential. Clean the horse’s feet or hooves daily by using a hoof pick, especially after a ride in the field. A farrier, or a horseshoer, has to trim the hooves every eight weeks to keep it from getting sore or cracked. It is likewise important to bring the horse to a licensed veterinarian for regular check-ups. Most of all, never forget to pay attention to a horse. It can make a significant difference.
