When I first started playing online poker, I would get a huge stack of chips, but then I’d watch it slowly drift into everyone else’s hands, because I didn’t know how to use it.
Poker is pretty much the only time in life when bullying is encouraged, even respected, so when you get the chance to bully your fellow poker players, go to town!
If you’re in a position of chip dominance, you have the opportunity to push everyone else at the table around-you can decide the pace of the action, you can force people to bet how you want them to, you can scare folks off by calling them all in without fear, you can play all kinds of mind games.
When you’ve got the large stack, feel free to double the blinds and watch the weaker players fold their bets. If somebody tries to raise, see how they’re acting. If you think they’re bluffing or that your hand is better, call them all in. Focus on the smallest stacks-the worst thing you can do to another player is to put all their chips at risk. Do that often.
It can be a risky method, but when you’ve got the chips to push people around in a poker game, you’ll end up winning more than losing.
