I may have every intention of learning a lot in a category only to dart to the home page. I’ll just scroll through it real quick and see if anything calls my name. Several somethings always do so I never know how long I will be reading. I never set a goal for the home page reading. I quit when the little voice says enough. For humble beginning, I read two brief but interesting articles about earthworms. I was not going to comment on these but a quote from Darwin brought to mind an observation I had made many years ago and I felt compelled to mention it to the author. I left a comment.
I read one of my own articles next. I did not rate it or post a comment, but I did toy with the idea. At the end of my article was that list of recent articles in the same category as mine. The first or second title on the list called to me. It was a solid five star article I thoroughly enjoyed so I rated it and posted a comment. I went back to the home page. I chose an artcle that caught my eye about a resurgence in writing for ezines. Entirely appropriate for the directory I was visiting. The author turned out to be someone I had a brief exchange with on a blog thread the evening prior. Another very solid five star article. I rated and said hello.
Back to the home page and an article called to me. It was about a subject I needed to do some study on and it did not disappointment at all. It did not tell me all I wanted to know on the subject but it taught me a lot and was very well written. Another five star article, I rated and commented. Back on the home page was another article on the same subject by the same author that promised to answer some of my questions after reading the previous article. It was every bit as good as the first. I rated it and left a message saying so and that intend to read a lot more by this particular author.
One of the articles I had on the home page was about how readers will be driving article marketing in the near future. I noticed while reading that there was a feature I had never noticed. I could request E mail notification of all new additions to any category or subcategory. This is a tremendous reader service. How had I missed it? I would only learn when I checked my inbox less than an hour later, this new service was brand new. What are the odds a website is doing what you are proclaiming the better ones must do in the next year, the same day my words are published? I don’t care if I am the only one who thinks or says so, Ezine Articles is powerful magic.
I read two more from the home page on yet another subject I had been putting off educating myself about. The pair were written with an authority that left no doubt about the subject. Both very well written and providing an excellent foundation for my further education, much from the same author as I saw more than a dozen of his articles I want to read, and I will, within the next week. By just the attraction of titles and the little voice, I got a high intensity two hour education.and a learning assignment for next week. My home base directory is two steps ahead of me and I bumped into a cyber friend. I also learned a few things about timing the home page exposure by checking my views against previous postings and thereby had a rich research experience in all I did. I had several joyous and exciting hours the previous week and these two just capped off the week’s work perfectly. The experience got me high. And the thing that keeps me ecstatic about the whole thing is the experience might be repeated at any time. Not every time perhaps but often enough to create a positive habit and expectation. It’s way better than any morning newspaper ever was. It is a reader’s delight even if it doesn’t bring you to ecstasy. It will always be time well spent and it costs less than a newspaper too. Give it a try. You won’t be sorry you did.
